Rugged landscapes, the magical Northern Lights, vast, lonely expanses – Iceland is one of the most breathtaking places in the world. This island in the North Atlantic isn't just a dream destination for photographers; it's also a top choice for adventurous travelers. But what's the best way to explore the island if you've never been before? I always recommend a bus tour – and I can even offer a discount code for the tour operator Bustravel Iceland.

Use the code DANNI10 to get a ten percent discount on all day tours from Bustravel Iceland .
Why a bus tour?
I personally enjoy exploring things at my own pace, so I understand why a rental car is often the first choice for discovering new places. However, in Iceland, there are also many reasons to opt for a guided bus tour. Especially outside of the summer season, road conditions can often be challenging or even dangerous. Those without experience in icy terrain risk getting stuck – or worse.
On a bus tour, you can relax by the window and enjoy the scenery during the journey. You also have a tour guide who provides information about the places you visit, as well as Icelandic culture and myths.
Bus tours are especially convenient if you only have a few days in Iceland. This way you can visit an entire region and its most important natural phenomena in one day and be back in Reykjavik in the evening.
Northern Lights tours: yes or no?
The bus companies also offer Northern Lights tours during the season from September to March or April. Anyone who has never seen the aurora borealis should consider such a tour. The dancing lights in the winter sky often look unspectacular at first glance. On a bus tour, the crew knows exactly where the cloud cover is broken and where light pollution is low enough to clearly see the lights. You also receive helpful tips on how to capture the Northern Lights in a good photograph.
Private tours and photoshoots
For those who prefer a truly exquisite experience: I occasionally offer private tours (by car) in Iceland, combined with photographic accompaniment and/or concept shoots. You can find more information about all my Iceland activities at DAP in Iceland . There, I also regularly announce when I'll be back in the land of ice and fire. My discount code is also permanently available there.
