Whale Watching in Reykjavik
Special Tours is a boat company that offers whale watching tours from Reykjavik's harbor. The tours are ethically unobjectionable and the welfare of the animals is always in the foreground despite all the fascination and adventure. On board, you will learn interesting facts about whales, dolphins and other animals that inhabit the seas around Iceland. As soon as animals are sighted, the boat slows down and comes to a stop at a safe distance. If the whales come closer on their own, that's great, of course – but the animals are never chased or harassed.
For about three hours you drive out into Faxaflói Bay, to the feeding places of the whales. Humpback and minke whales are at home here, but orcas and even fin whales can also visit. There are also many curious white-beaked dolphins here, which also like to swim on the bow waves of the boat.
