In June I spent a little over a week in Iceland. Now I'm finally getting around to writing about it. It was my first trip to Iceland in the summer, and besides 24 hours of daylight, the land of ice and fire had so much more to offer that was new to me.
Impromptu-Shooting in Reykjavik
This time I stayed in an Airbnb in the heart of Reykjavik, just two minutes from the famous Hallgrímskirkja church. Even more importantly, the accommodation was also just a two-minute walk from the Brauð & Co. bakery – home to the best cinnamon buns in the world.
I spent the first day just in the city. I went for walks and took photos. And ate a cinnamon roll. And drank hot chocolate in my favorite café by the harbor.

I also went to Harpa, where I spontaneously did a little photoshoot with an Icelandic Latin dancer who was competing there. Birna and her mother were incredibly kind and were able to make good use of the time before the competition.

Bus Travel Iceland Tours
Of course, I booked tours with Bustravel Iceland again this time. I've been working with the company for over two years now, and the collaboration is always so much fun.
First we went on the Golden Circle tour, but this time with an addition: the Secret Lagoon. We spent two hours in the hot spring and I can highly recommend it (pun intended).

The next day we went to Landmannalaugar. This tour can only be offered in the summer, as it goes into the Icelandic Highlands, which are impassable in winter. This allowed me to discover many new places, all of which absolutely blew me away. The short hike and the subsequent soak in a natural hot spring made the tour perfect.

If you're planning a trip to Iceland this summer, you should definitely consider one or even several tours. Driving into the Highlands, in particular, isn't possible with just any rental car, as there are no paved roads. Plus, with Bustravel Iceland, you get a fantastic guide and learn a lot about the country, its culture, and the places you visit.

Island mit Caroline Rose Photography
The main reason for my trip to Iceland was that my dear friend Carrie and I wanted to vacation together. And since Carrie is from Columbus, OH in the USA, that was the "middle" where we met.
I first showed Carrie around Reykjavik before we went to Hjálparfoss for a short photo shoot. We also took another bus tour to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula and then drove along the entire south coast. It was a busy three-day itinerary, but we wanted to see and experience as much as possible before continuing on to Stockholm.
